On the 25th of September, the American Chamber of Commerce and Hedman Partners organize a round-table for chamber members, involving Columbia University professor Jane C. Ginsburg. Jane C. Ginsburg is one of the most well-known and recognized intellectual property professors, who has among other things co-authored with professor Sam Ricketson the world’s most cited intellectual property casebook “International Copyright and Neighboring Rights: the Berne Convention and beyond” (Oxford University Press, 2006).
The subject of the round-table is the effect of intellectual property on creativity.
Professor Jane C. Ginsburg has analyzed the draft of the new Estonian Copyright Act. During her Estonian visit, she will also give a public lecture in Tartu University entitled “Exceptional Authorship: The Role of Copyright Exceptions in Promoting Creativity”, in which the professor will look for an answer to the questions whether copyright is conducive to or furthers creativity and whether authors today require copyright at all.
