We’re proud to announce a partnership between Hedman Law Firm and the Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN) – one built on a shared mission: to strengthen Estonia’s startup ecosystem by supporting both the innovators and the investors who bring world-changing ideas to life.
“So far, the potential of female investors in Estonia has remained largely untapped. However, I am confident that, together with EstBAN, we can help women take their first steps into the world of technology investing,”
says Merlin Seeman, Managing Partner at Hedman.
“At Hedman, we are developing practical resources to equip female investors with the knowledge and confidence to invest in startups and companies in their growth phase. We are always ready to support them with our expertise and insights into both the Estonian and European tech sectors.”
The partnership between Hedman and EstBAN is about more than just legal advice or access to networks. It’s about creating opportunities and building a more inclusive, investor-ready startup landscape for Estonia and beyond.
Our first joint initiative: A program to welcome more women into Angel Investing
To kick off the partnership, Hedman and EstBAN, together with Swedbank Estonia, launched a month-long training program for aspiring female angel investors.
The goal? To make startup investing more accessible, approachable, and actionable for women who are ready to take the leap – but need the tools, confidence, and support to do so.
Over the course of the program, participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering:
- Legal basics every early-stage investor should know
- Real stories from experienced founders and investors
- Conversations about ownership, risk, and building wealth through equity
But even more importantly, the program created a community – a space for women to ask questions, connect with peers, and start building their future as startup investors.
“Hedman is a strong player in the startup ecosystem and we’re excited to collaborate within events, knowledge-sharing and training,”
says Karin Künnapas, Managing Director of EstBAN.
“Our first bigger project together was the awesome training series for Novice Female Angel Investors (Naisinvestorite arenguprogramm – ingelinvesteeringute ABC). The energy and engagement was incredible.”
Looking ahead
The startup world moves fast but we believe inclusion shouldn’t lag behind.
With EstBAN, Hedman is committed to continuing this work: developing new programs, sharing legal know-how, and creating practical pathways for female founders, investors, and leaders to participate in – and benefit from – Estonia’s thriving innovation economy.
