Hedman advised Electricview on establishing the legal framework for a new business model

Hedman advised Electricview on establishing the legal framework for their new business model, based on Guarantees of Origin. We created the terms and conditions, the privacy model, and developed a comprehensive licensing model that clearly defines how the certificates are provided to the general public.

Electricview is the developer of Rohesert (a portmanteau of “green” and “certificate”), a renewable energy certification platform. Businesses and consumers alike can purchase certificates on the website, which indicate that they are deemed to have consumed green energy in the amount indicated on the certificate, assisting them to achieve ESG compliance.

We navigated the EU regulatory framework while ensuring Rohesert, as a private company, could implement a business model that aligns with the EU legal framework. Our team helped determine the most suitable classification for the certificate, clarifying its nature as a certification, token, as well as a license, and designed a framework that promotes transparency and compliance.

The client was advised by partner Toomas Seppel and assisted by junior associate Alex Luik.
