The European Intellectual Property Office has opened the new grant scheme for 2023. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can apply for trade mark registration grants. The maximum grant amount is 1000 EUR per SME, and the grant shall reimburse 75% of trade mark registration fees at the EU level and 50% of trade mark and design fees outside the EU. For example, the basic fee for a European Union trade mark is 850 EUR, and you get back 637.5 EUR. The fee for the second class is 50 EUR, and for three or more classes, 150 EUR.
The application period is open until the 8th of December, 2023.
To apply, the enterprise has to fit the definition of an SME and submit a VAT registration certificate and a certificate from the bank.
