Hedman advised the Estonian Rescue Board on the comprehensive development of personal data protection–related documentation.
As part of the cooperation, the organisation’s data protection framework was updated based on its specific needs, including data protection policies, the organisation of employee training, and the principles for monitoring compliance with data protection requirements.
The documentation provides the Estonian Rescue Board with a clear and practical framework for the processing of personal data, helps mitigate data protection risks, and supports compliance with applicable data protection requirements and the Estonian Information Security Standard (E-ITS). A well-designed data protection governance framework also supports the authority’s day-to-day operations, increasing transparency for employees, citizens, and cooperation partners alike.
More than 2000 people work at the Estonian Rescue Board to ensure a safe and secure living environment for the residents of Estonia. In addition, they are supported by over 2400 volunteer rescue workers.
The client was advised by Partner Toomas Seppel and Specialist Data Privacy Counsel Andres Ojaver.
