Merlin Salvik continues on the board of Service Industry Association

Merlin Salvik, the managing partner of law firm Hedman Partners, has once again been elected to serve as a board member of the Estonian Service Industry Association, thus continuing her efforts to further improve the Estonian business environment. Merlin leads the work and education workgroup in the association, helping them spread the gospel on the Smart Workforce strategy in addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the workgroup. Merlin has with the help of her colleagues from Hedman Partners often drawn attention to some shortcomings in the regulation of the service industry in Estonia, by addressing the Legal Chancellor on the termination of unemployment insurance for board members and by publishing an op-ed on the same topic in the business daily Äripäev. Merlin and her team also played a pivotal role in drafting the amendments to the employment contract law to improve the flexibility of contractual relations in employment.

In her professional capacity, Merlin mainly advises her clients in the fields of corporate and labour laws, by helping Estonian start-up technology companies and investors with expert advice on the legal aspects of seed funding and partnership arrangements. Merlin has been constantly sharing her expertise with with others through opinion articles, seminars and presentations on various academic levels, as she also belongs to the Estonian business angels network EstBAN and the International Lawyers Association.
