Hedman Law Firm: 2023 in review

For 30 years, Hedman Law Firm has been privileged to guide businesses and individuals through the ever-evolving legal landscape. Over the past decade, we have been at the forefront of startup advisory, and it has been a truly rewarding journey. We are grateful for how far we have come.

As we reflect on the year 2023, we celebrate a remarkable journey marked by significant achievements, commitment to excellence, and a steadfast dedication to making a positive impact on the legal landscape. Building upon our entry into the top 1% of Estonian companies and Äripäev’s esteemed “Gasell” status last year, we have sustained our upward trajectory, achieving comprehensive growth across various facets.

Advisory highlights

As always, we stood out as an ally for our clients, providing insightful advisories and strategic legal counsel. This year, our legal team successfully navigated complex legal landscapes, advising on some major deals, including:

Top rankings and awards

We are grateful that our commitment to providing exceptional legal services has been acknowledged through numerous  recognitions and awards. This year, we secured top rankings in several prestigious legal directories, including Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, and IFLR1000. These recognitions underscore our expertise in diverse practice areas, including FinTech, Commercial, Corporate, and M&A and IP.

Thought leadership

Beyond accolades, our contributions to the legal community extend to thought leadership. This year, our attorneys have actively contributed to thought leadership in the legal field, participating in conferences, publishing articles, and sharing insights on emerging legal trends. Some conferences and seminars where we shared our insights include DAODAY, Latitude59, ClimateLaunchpad, Best Internet 2023 and the Äripäeva Conference. Likewise, we organised a series of educational events, including our popular “Hedman Coffee Morning,” which we continue to host both as  standalone seminars and in collaboration with partners such as Workland, Rotermanni, and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Likewise, beyond legal endeavours, Hedman Law Firm remains committed to making a positive impact on society. In the course of the year, we participated and spearheaded several initiatives aligned with our societal outlook. For instance, our senior associate Taavi Kõiv mentored the University of Tartu Team at the Telders International Law Moot Court. Our associate Alex Luik also returned to his roots at Audentes International School to educate and inspire the students. These and more  highlight our dedication to nurturing the next generation of legal talents.

Supporting the ecosystem

This year, we also continued our tradition of supporting tech and startup collectives helping to shape the Estonian startup ecosystem. Among others, we were delighted to support Latitude59 and Cleantech Estonia. Moreover, we received the prestigious gold label from Peaasi.ee, an organisation recognizing companies who prioritise mental health. This recognition highlights our commitment to employee well-being, which includes accessible sports opportunities, padel training, and a comprehensive mental health package.

As we approach the new year, we would like to say thanks to you our esteemed clients, partners, and team members for your unwavering support and trust. We look forward to another year of groundbreaking achievements and making a difference in the legal world.

Compliments of the season from all of us at Hedman!
